Classically, direct response advertisers spend their media dollars in the hope that a particular radio show, TV program or newspaper will generate qualified telephone leads. This advertising system has been happily rolling along for the past 50 years. But it is now possible to advertise and not pay for airtime, instead only paying for the results, whether using a lead, sales or other metric that was generated from each broadcast or print insertion.
