Cole Hartman is Senior Vice President of Marketing at the Inter/Media Group of Companies. Hartman is charged with expanding Inter/Media’s presence into new industry categories. On the client side, Hartman works with agency principals and clients to shape strategy in a highly competitive business environment.
Cole was most recently Vice President, Western Region at Horizon Media. He has more than 12 years in the marketing communications industry. Before joining Horizon Media in January, 2006 Hartman served as Vice President at Carat, the largest independent media agency in the world, from January 2003-2006.
Hartman’s communication career began in his early teens, separating fan mail for David Hasselhoff at a Los Angeles PR Agency. After earning his psychology degree at San Francisco State University in 1996, he applied his talents to the advertising field, rising quickly through the ranks of Western International Media and Initiative Media, fast-tracked by management through the client services and media planning departments before moving into business development and client strategy. In 2000, he launched Initiative’s Media Technology Lab, the foundation of the IPG Emerging Media Lab.
Hartman then took a sabbatical to study full-service marketing, public relations and the creative process. He served as Account Executive at The Rogers Group, and Director of Marketing at a Culver City creative agency called Woo. While there, he and the team applied groundbreaking marketing strategies to surpass some of the biggest agencies on the West Coast to win accounts such as Barbeques Galore, Gold’s Gym and Good Guys. Following that experience, Hartman returned to his media roots, first at Carat and then Horizon Media.
Along the way he shaped communications strategy for clients such as Disney, Gateway Computers, Baskin-Robbins, government social-marketing accounts, banks, gas stations, packaged goods, religions, health products, video games and more. Working closely with advertisers, Hartman has developed innovative communications programs that include product placement, integrated content, custom content and viral programs that have brought clients to a successful marketing outcome time and time again. In 2001 Adweek named him as having one of the Five Coolest Jobs in Advertising because of his leadership with evolving media technology. |
